Frank van Luijk
Executive assessment adviser and leadership expert
Frank van Luijk has a degree in both psychology and philosophy. In 1982, he graduated as occupational and organizational psychologist from the Free University in Amsterdam, and received his Master’s degree in philosophy at the University of Amsterdam. Besides his professional life, he has continued to work in research. His research resulted in his being promoted to doctor in psychology for his contribution to research on the meaning of work with his doctoral thesis ‘Waarom werken wij’ (‘Why do we work?’).
Frank started to work for LTP in 1983, where he became an expert in assessment methods. He completed many assignments for a great number of companies and institutions in the Netherlands. He is also considered as the most important selection consultant for the Dutch judiciary. In this capacity, he advised several foreign governments on their judicial selection methods. Between 2001 and 2012, Frank lectured in the ‘psychology of selection’ at the Free University in Amsterdam.
As well as a popular publication of his aforementioned dissertation, he wrote ‘Hoe krijg ik ze zo ver. Psychologie voor managers’ (‘How do I persuade them? Psychology for managers’) and, more recently, ‘De ontspoorde manager. Waarom mensen aan de top de weg kwijt raken’ (2014) (‘The derailed manager. Why do executives lose track?’).
As part of his consultancy practice, Frank is primarily concerned with executive assessment, team composition and mapping development potential. He also advises on questions regarding integrity and derailments. This entails the shedding light on the way people interact with moral dilemmas, in ordinary circumstances as well as when under pressure.
